A great way to recycle your pumpkins is to make a fun, colorful science experiment!
Here are some benefits:
Language Development- Introduce words like pulp, seed, scoop, prediction, etc.
Cognitive Development- Break down the scientific process and go through the steps with your little ones. Discussing the reaction of the vinegar and mixed with the baking soda and food coloring.
Fine Motor Skills- Kids can build fine motor skills as they carve the pumpkin, scoop the pulp, separate the pulp and seeds, dump the baking soda, and dripping the food coloring.
Fun- Kids, especially young children, learn through play. Exploratory and discovery play have such positive impacts of children!
Experiment:
Carve pumpkin and scoop out insides. My littles separated seeds and pulp on my free graphic organizer!
Pour baking soda into the pumpkin
Drop some drops of food coloring
Pour the vinegar in
Watch to see what happens!!
The more vinegar that is added, the more bubbling you’ll see!
